After Completion of his higher surgical training, MCh(CVTS) he joined Rabindranath Tagore International Institute of Cardiac Sciences(RTIICS), Kolkata as Junior Consultant, Cardiac Surgery. RTIICS is specialized centre for cardiac care with annual surgical volume of about 2500 hearts including both adult and pediatric cases. He worked there till August 2012, when he was invited to join as Fellow, Cardiothoracic Surgery at Royal Perth Hospital, Australia.
He worked as Fellow, Cardiothoracic at The Royal Perth Hospital(RPH) from August 2012 to February 2014. RPH is the tertiary referral Centre for Cardiothoracic surgery in the entire state of Western Australia and the only hospital in the state for Advanced Life support and Heart-Lung Transplantation. RPH is also the referral hospital for Trans Aortic Valve Replacements. Here, at RPH he had the opportunity to train himself in the enlisting, insertion and management of patients with LVAD (Heartware and Heartmate II). He also gained experience in Heart-Lung Transplantation which were routinely done there.
With a desire to work at Kolkata, he returned from Australia and joined Medica Superspecialty Hospital, Kolkata, as Consultant Cardiac Surgeon. He routinely started doing Valve repairs and Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery.
He started the Cardiac Surgery Department at B P Poddar Hospital and Medical Research, Kolkata in 2015 and at Charnock Hospitals, Newtown, Kolkata in 2017. At both these institutes, strict enforcement of SOPs and vigilant patient care has helped achieve an impressive average mortality of less than 0.8%. He managed to set new standards of efficiency in Perioperative care by ensuring most routine Cardiac surgery patients get discharged on day 4. He ensures rigorous quality control by maintaining and auditing clinical data.

Dr. Ritendra Nath Talapatra has completed MBBS from Medical College Kolkata, DNB in General Medicine, Dip Card from RTIICS, Kolkata and Postdoctoral DNB in Cardiology. He was awarded MNAMS from National Academy of Medical Sciences, New Delhi and Dr. Abdul Kalam National Gold Medal Award. He was awarded FRCP from Royal College of Physicians, Glasgow and FSCAI from Society of Cardiac Angiography and Interventions, USA. He is a Senior Consultant Interventional Cardiologist with 10 years of experience in the field of Interventional Cardiology.
